Is a Management District another layer of government? PDF Print E-mail

Some people will say it is. Others point to the improvements made in other areas and ask what current layer in our area can or will provide similar improvements. The answer is that none of the currect units of government (layers known as the City, County, State, Federal and the host of MUDs) provide those improvements.

If we want public space improvements and additional maintenance like we see in Greenspoint, the Galleria, Westchase and downtown then we have to pay for them ourselves--like they do. The way that is done, so that our money is used in our area, is to establish a seperate unit of government obligated to spend our money on our area. The district will be your layer of government. In addition you will have the opportunity to shut it down every five years as they have a sunset clause. You do not have that direct a control of the other "layers" and you do not see all your money spent in your area.
