Draft Mobility Objective/Action Items Objective: FM 1960 is our primary thoroughfare and as such has experienced major increases in traffic congestion with the continued growth of the area.. Projections of increased population and traffic congestion will make the situation worse and that is a concern of the community. The District will pursue partnerships with public and private entities to mitigate the congestion impact of a growing population while providing for transit development options.
Short Range Actions: - Partner with the County and TxDOT to coordinate street signs that include block numbers.
- Partner with County, COH and TxDOT to coordinate roadway improvement projects and fund streetscape amenities where cost effective.
- Establish a Mobility Task Force to coordinate access management policies and guidelines.
Create an effective wayfinding system. - Advocate for implementation of signalization and traffic improvements detailed in existing studies.
- Work with Metro to improve bus service and the appearance of bus stops.
Long Range Actions: - Create a sidewalk plan connecting pedestrian pockets where possible.
- Advocate for high technology energy efficient signalization solutions.
- Partner with TxDOT, COH, Harris County, H-GAC and Metro to coordinate short and long term transit and transportation planning opportunities directly affecting the corridor.
- Partner with TxDOT, Harris County, COH to provide ongoing traffic analysis and signalization adjustments to mitigate traffic congestion.
- Work with Metro to establish a 1960 area transit center and/or transit hub.
- Partner with the County, COH and TxDOT to implement projects and strategies to improve traffic flow and motorist safety.
- Work with the County, COH, TxDOT and property owners to modify driveways and connections between properties to improve traffic throughput.
