NEW - The plan is being drafted. We now have the Vision and Goals from the planner. We have taken that information and added Objectives Short and Long Range Actions that can be taken. Even though it is all still in DRAFT from we wanted you to be able to see where we are going with the input that you provided. The plan drafts and the proposed management district projects are already in the hands of our elected officials. Please refer to the menu items to the right of the screen to review the Draft Urban Plan documentation. Please refer to the menu items to the left to view the proposed projects that would be funded during the first year of the proposed managemet district.
Projects that make a difference evolve after thorough planning, evaluation of the cost effectiveness and locating funding.
The process begins with planning and what our area has lacked is a master plan. All successful areas of Houston that are improving began the process by hiring an urban planner and working with them to develop a vision and ideas for what that area could be. The partners in the Renaissance 1960 effort are determined to have a different outcome than earlier community improvement efforts. If there is to be a different outcome--a thriving FM1960 area--we have to go about it differently. The difference will be commissioning a master plan and rallying interested businesses and residents to participate in that creation. A contract is in place with Webb Architect, Inc., the selected urban planner, and the scope and tasks can be reviewed by clicking the link in the Urban Planning menu. You can download Webb Architect's firm profile by clicking here. The portfolio is a 2 MB pdf file so it may take a few minutes to download with a slow internet connection. Joe Webb and his team were seleced because of their intimate knowledge of the area. Joe grew up in this area and along with many here, have watched the vast changes take place over the years. Be sure to check this web site for dates of upcoming public meetings where you can learn more about what has been drafted and again have the opportunity to offer your ideas. Also note in the Forums menus the link to the Urban Planning Forum where you can add your ideas in various catagories. You can also give input by sending an email to
