Creating a Management District PDF Print E-mail

NEW - Please see the menu to the left of the screen to review a list of proposed management district projects.  These projects are only proposed, are suggested in the first year of operation, but will not happen as such unless the management district is formed.  Without it there would be no funding available.

See the Draft Urban Plan for Vison/Goals and the Objectives and Actions for additional information.

The primary purpose of Renaissance 1960 is to improve the area through planning and projects that can be funded from private sources. Many busineses and residents in the area have wanted to form a managment district to help fund and lead such improvements. A management district is one of those tools and establishing one is one of the projects we support.

The creation of a management district is a proven tool for change. One only has to drive through downtown, the Galleria area, GreensPoint and other areas with such districts to see the public space upgrades that do not exist in areas only served by the County, City and State. But, it is not the only tool and if the 2009 Legislature does not approve the creation of one then we must keep working to improve our community.

In short, Renaissance 1960 emerged from the despiration that we cannot wait two more years to begin addressing the issues as our area has evolved from a quiet suburbia to a dense urban environment like those that had to form a management district.

We also believe that the results of the Renaissance 1960 effort and the momentum and support created will be a strong demonstration that the area is willing to "roll up our sleeves", contribute funds, talents and sweat.

If that demonstration is not pursuasive and a district is not established in the next legislature then some improvements will be underway and we will keep going. WE WILL NOT GIVE UP ON OUR COMMUNITY.

Whether or not you support the formation of a management district is not important as long as you support northwest Harris County and are willing to help in big ways or little ways to make it a great place to live, work and play. If that is you then you will find many like-minded people and businesses involved in Renaissance 1960.

If you do support the formation of a management district the following links are to documents you can use to show that support and encourage others.
