Creating a Management District |

The primary purpose of Renaissance 1960 is to improve the area through planning and projects that can be funded from private sources. Many busineses and residents in the area have wanted to form a managment district to help fund and lead such improvements. This page addresses how the goals of Renaissance 1960 provides first for area improvements by identifying and using all the available tools. A management district is one of those tools and establishing one is one of the projects we support.
Town Hall Meeting The value of such a district was proposed prior to the 2005 and 2007 legislature but a management district did not evolve. Our State representatives, Partricia Harless and Debbie Riddle, have said they will support a management district in the 2009 session if that is the will of the people. We are confident they will see that the people of our area do want change and are willing to work to that end. The creation of a management district will provide an important tool for change. But it is not the only tool and if the 2009 Legislature does not approve the creation of one then we must keep working to improve our community. In short, Renaissance 1960 emerged from the despiration that we cannot wait two more years tp begin addressing the issues as our area moves from quiet suburbia to a dense urban environment. We also believe that the results of the Renaissance 1960 effort and the momentum and support created will be a strong demonstration that the area is willing to "roll up our sleeves", contribute funds, talents and sweat. But if that demonstration is not pursuasive and a district is not established in the next legislature then some improvements will be underway and we will keep going. WE WILL NOT GIVE UP ON OUR COMMUNITY. |
