The purpose of the meeting on July 24, 2007 was to bring the Renaissance 1960 Corporation's Board of Directors, members of the Steering Committee and Committee Chairs together for an information sharing and brainstorming session.  Notes from the meeting are incorporated into the agenda you can review by clicking Read More. I.      Welcome and Introductions – Mary Davis and Barabra Thomason

II.     Accomplishments….so far – Mary Davis

  • Web site is on line and growing - www.Renaissance1960.org  - (this site)
  • The committees are meeting and will report on progress later in this meeting 

III.    Renaissance 1960 Organization Structure and Purpose – Mary Davis

  • The organization will be lead by a Board of Directors who will manage the fiscal issues, approve contracts developed by the committees and promote and support the committee efforts. The Board members will play an active roll in various committees.
  • Mary Davis will serve as the Executive Director
  •  A Steering Committee composed of Board members, Chairs of the committees and others will recommend policy and actions.

IV.    Introduction to Master Schedule – Tom Davis

  • The schedule will identify projects, the sequence to accomplish those projects, the target dates and who is "carrying the ball".
  • The schedule will be distributed at future meetings and available at this web site. 

V.     Identify Projects – Near term success/Longer term objectives – Group Discussion was held to determine the groups thoughts regarding projects that need to be addressed

  • Making the medians TxDOT will install on FM 1960 green with landscaping rather than grey with concrete
  • Commission an urban plan prepared by a professional planner based on local stakeholder input and reviews.
  • Cleanup and improve the  streetscape and private properties in the area
  • Area-wide cleanup campaign of empty buildings
  • Conduct an education campaign about sign rules and the new legislation regarding bandit signs.
  • Install street-name signs with the block numbers and encourage businesses to post their address prominately.
  • Prepare a map of the area like other organization distribute.
  • Issue a monthly newsletter.
  • Support the branding effort that is being lead by the Houston Northwest Chamber and the Cypress Creek Cultural District

VI.    Identify Partners – Group Discussion

  • Everyone was encouraged to have their organization listed as a partner of the Renaissance 1960 effort and be added to the web site page at this site.
  • Everyone was encouraged to tell other organizations and get the word out that they can make a difference. 

VII.   Identify Project Funding Sources – Group Discussion

  • Funding strategies to be discussed once a list of projects is developed and prioritized.
  • Fund raising is to be a coordinated effort. 

VIII.  Action items – Mary Davis

  • Work with CCA on landscaping proposal
  • Solicite Urban Planning proposals from several other planning firms
  • Register organization
  • Draft Bylaws
  • Find office sapce
